Past week there has been some progress, be it that it’s all ‘hidden’, it’s not viible, unless you’d look with a magnifying glass or look under the table.
First all 23 junctions have been fixed to the table using the metal garden wire method. I even opted for one L-shaped wire per fix instead of the U shaped wire. It means one hole less to drill per fix while a test showed that it still fixates the track well enough.
Then a start has been made mounting the servos. The new ‘vertical’ mounting method is used that was discussed earlier in this post.
The advantages are twofold:
1. There is no servo jitter because there’s almost no force applied to the servo, it need not ‘work’ to keep it in position.
2. The spring wire (which is an unfolded paperclip) does not move around in a circle, which made it bend in the horizontal plane … again less forces in the whole system.
What’s important with this method is to align the servo accurately in the middle. Else there’s a chance that the spring wire has too much vertical travel and pops out of its hole in the junction.

Een uiteinde is in een scherpe hoek 90 graden omgebogen over een mm of 3. Met twee kartonnetjes de ‘vork’ van de wissel in de middenstand fixeren. Metaadraadje door het gaatje van de wiseel steken en laten hangen op het omgebogen stukje. Dan onder de tafel het plasticje er op schuiven door het van te voren aangebrachte gaatje, zo goed mogelijk recht uitlijnen, aftekenen, gaatje boren door plasticje en plank en vastschroeven.
